WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for the Doom Patrol Season 1, Episode 12 “Cyborg Patrol,” streaming now on DC Universe.

Doom Patrol has certainly staked its claim as not just the weirdest superhero TV series to date, but one of the most eccentric shows of all time. In its first season alone, the series has featured a gender-queer teleporting street; the Beard Hunter, who can track people and enter their minds by eating their facial hair; and the Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Man, with a human head. a dinosaur head and tree limbs, running around causing chaos.

In addition to its line-up of odd character, Doom Patrol loves to scratch is its, well, butt fetish. Following the revelation a farting donkey was actually a gateway to Mister Nobody’s (Alan Tudyk) hidden dimension, and his hot-air balloon that looked like a giant butt when the original Doom Patrol tried to battle him, the latest episode doubles down by giving us an entire army of rabid, flesh-devouring rear-ends.

When Cyborg (Joivan Wade) got kidnapped by the Bureau of Normalcy, he was imprisoned and experimented upon, leading to his father, Silas (Phil Morris), teaming up with Negative Man (Matt Bomer), Robotman (Brendan Fraser), Rita Farr (April Bowlby) and Jane (Diane Guerrero) to break the young hero out. since the sinister agency has a working relationship with Silas and STAR Labs, the crew is able to infiltrate the facility. And, as part of a ruse, Silas pretends to sell the team out in exchange for his son.

When they inevitably turn on the agents, the team decides to liberate every prisoner rather than just Vic. And what starts as a metahuman jailbreak takes a very odd turn when the senior soldiers report, “the butts are loose.”

The impression is that this is just an unsavory nickname for the inmates, but it’s quickly revealed that, no – it’s a literal statement. The Doom Patrol encounters a group of wall-crawling creatures that look like, well, human butts with limbs. And it’s not just a comedic visual — they turn out to be some of the most dangerous monsters the show has introduced to date.

The butts stampede the panicked agents, their cheeks opening wide and revealing layers of razor-sharp teeth. The bizarre entities devour all the soldiers in sight, terrifying even the Doom Patrol, as they swarm and leave like a pack of ravenous piranhas. It’s one of the series’ most mind-boggling and obscene moments, yet you can’t turn away from watching the butts in action, snarling and chomping on the bad guys.

Honestly, given the essence of Doom Patrol, something like this simply doesn’t surprise us anymore. If anything, it leaves the audience wondering what sort of cheeky fun the show will bring forth next from the cracks.

Streaming now on DC Universe, Doom Patrol stars Brendan Fraser as Cliff Steele, Matt Bomer as Larry Trainor, Diana Guerrero as Crazy Jane, Alan Tudyk as Mr. Nobody, April Bowlby as Rita Farr, Joivan Wade as Vic Stone, and Timothy Dalton as Niles Caulder.

I’m a former Chemical Engineer. It was boring so I decided to write about things I love. On the geek side of things, I write about comics, cartoons, video games, television, movies and basically, all things nerdy. I also write about music in terms of punk, indie, hardcore and emo because well, they rock! If you’re bored by now, then you also don’t want to hear that I write for ESPN on the PR side of things. And yes, I’ve written sports for them too! Not bad for someone from the Caribbean, eh? To top all this off, I’ve scribed short films and documentaries, conceptualizing stories and scripts from a human interest and social justice perspective. Business-wise, I make big cheddar (not really) as a copywriter and digital strategist working with some of the top brands in the Latin America region. In closing, let me remind you that the geek shall inherit the Earth. Oh, FYI, I’d love to write the Gargoyles movie for Disney. YOLO. That said, I’m on Twitter @RenaldoMatadeen. So holler.
